Amsterdam to Hamburg via Bremen

After 6 nights in Amsterdam, it was an early start on Tuesday for our next stop, Hamburg.  While it's about 470km and those fabulous tracking systems report driving time under 5 hours, we were on the road for about 10 hours with a 2 hour break in Bremen.  The "autobahn" became more like a parking lot of container trucks for the last half of the journey.  Like Australia, containers are travelling by road rather than rail and Hamburg's Germany's largest port.

On tour, we have an Australian tour director and Viennese tour manager..takes a lot to control 21 Australian classical music fans!  Our tour manager's preference is train travel now as it's quicker and less prone to delay.  Seems that it's less costly to hire a 60 seat bus for us..much like container transport I keep thinking!  The upside is that we get to spend some time in the lovely old town centre of Bremen.

We arrived at our Spanish hotel in Hamburg about 19.30 hours.....speaking European time now!
